2. How should buyers calculate connected load?

For an initial branch estimate, multiply the exact strip's stated W/m by the installed length on that branch. Add every strip section supplied by the same driver or controller. Keep each branch separate when feed points, lengths, controls or operating scenes differ.

Example: a hypothetical 24 V branch using a strip rated at 10 W/m over 6 m has an initial connected-load estimate of 60 W. That arithmetic does not select the driver by itself; voltage matching, reserve policy, dimming conditions, wiring, start-up behaviour and the manufacturer's operating range still require review.

3. Is 14 W/m always better than 7 W/m?

No. A higher W/m value can indicate a different output target, density, row layout, drive condition or product construction, but it does not automatically mean a better choice. The correct comparison depends on required illumination, visual comfort, profile and diffuser, operating hours, energy budget, heat path, control level and service plan.

Compare like-for-like data: voltage, W/m, lumens per metre where available, LED density, CRI, CCT, IP construction, cut rule, profile, diffuser and sample conditions. If one quotation provides only W/m and another provides output data, the two offers are not yet technically equivalent.

4. How does W/m affect voltage drop and feed planning?

At the same voltage and length, a higher W/m rating generally represents a higher connected-load demand, so the branch current estimate and the impact of cable and connection resistance can change. The exact result depends on the strip circuit, conductor path, feed arrangement, operating level and required end-of-run result.

Plan each branch from the exact offered strip. Record driver position, cable route, conductor size, feed points, connector or soldered joints and control zones before deciding whether a layout is acceptable.

5. What should be checked for profile and thermal conditions?
